“The Coketown Effect” selezionato per BOOMing Contemporary Art Show Bologna
Siamo felici di annunciare che il progetto The Coketown Effect ideato e curato da noi, già vincitore dell’open call per curatori under 30 indetta da The Others Art Fair (2021), è stato selezionato per BOOMing Contemporary Art Show dal 20 al 23 gennaio 2022 presso lo Spazio DumBO a Bologna.
Il progetto espositivo, che vede la partecipazione di due giovani artisti rumeni Liviu Bulea e Oana Maria Pop, è stato possibile grazie alla preziosa collaborazione della galleria IAGA Contemporary Art di Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
La fiera è stata rinviata a data da destinarsi a causa della situazione sanitaria nazionale.
L’evento si terrà comunque online sulla piattaforma Lieu.city dal 20 al 23 gennaio.
BOOMing Contemporary Art Show è la fiera d’arte contemporanea che ha deciso di scardinare il concetto di “emergente” collegandolo al significato letterale dell’essere in procinto di emergere e della necessità di far emergere. In questo senso si collega anche al duplice significato della parola “emergenza”. Emergenza come urgenza, ma anche come momento di criticità foriero di cambiamenti. BOOMing rivolge la sua attenzione a gallerie, associazioni e spazi di ricerca che mostrano particolare sensibilità nella selezione degli artisti, individuati in base a una compatibilità non solo estetica o funzionale al mercato. Questa scelta valorizza soprattutto la sintonia di visione, l’intimità di un comune sentire, la capacità di rendere manifesta una realtà spesso taciuta in nome di una presunta convenienza. Protagonista, l’arte emergente, ma non in senso anagrafico: a emergere saranno i temi che si impongono all’attenzione del pubblico e, soprattutto, le personalità che “bucano” la superficie, ponendosi in evidenza. Artisti che condividono un sentimento di emergenza, intesa come urgenza rispetto ai tempi moderni e al ruolo dell’arte. Interpreti di un’arte necessaria, portatrice di cambiamento, che si pone criticamente di fronte a un’epoca acefala e dai ritmi disumani, asservita a un concetto di sviluppo inarrestabile.
We are happy to announce that the project The Coketown Effect conceived and curated by us, already winner of the open call for curators under 30 organized by The Others Art Fair (2021), has been selected for BOOMing Contemporary Art Show from 20 to 23 January 2022 at Spazio DumBO in Bologna.
The exhibition project, featuring two young Romanian artists Liviu Bulea and Oana Maria Pop, was made possible thanks to the precious collaboration of the IAGA Contemporary Art gallery in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The fair has been postponed until a later date due to the national health situation.
The event will still be held online on the Lieu.city platform from January 20-23.
BOOMing Contemporary Art Show is the contemporary art fair that has decided to unhinge the concept of “emerging” by connecting it to the literal meaning of being in the process of emerging and the need to emerge. In this sense it also connects to the double meaning of the word “emergency”. Emergency as urgency, but also as a moment of criticality harbinger of change. BOOMing turns its attention to galleries, associations and research spaces that show particular sensitivity in the selection of artists, identified on the basis of a compatibility that is not only aesthetic or functional to the market. This choice enhances above all the harmony of vision, the intimacy of a common feeling, the ability to make manifest a reality often kept silent in the name of a presumed convenience. Protagonist, the emerging art, but not in an anagraphic sense: to emerge will be the themes that are imposed to the attention of the public and, above all, the personalities that “pierce” the surface, standing out. Artists who share a feeling of emergency, understood as urgency with respect to modern times and the role of art. Interpreters of a necessary art, bearer of change, which stands critically in front of an acephalous age and inhuman rhythms, enslaved to a concept of unstoppable development.
